IGS COLLEGE OFFERS NEW DEGREE COURSES (BT)

by Nurhamiza Hj Roslan

THE International Graduate Studies College (IGS College) has become the first private higher education institution in Brunei to introduce four new undergraduate degree programmes yesterday.

The new programmes offered at the IGS College are honours twinning degree programmes with Malaysia's Limkokwing University of Creative Technology and have been accredited by the Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council (BDNAC).

The new programmes include Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours), Bachelor of Business (Honours) Accounting, Bachelor of Science (Honours) Information Technology and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Software Engineering with Multimedia.

The offering of the new programmes has made IGS College the first private academic institution in Brunei to run a three-year full-fledged degree programme.

Speaking during the launch of the degree programmes at the IGS College in Kiulap, Deputy Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Hj Yusoff Hj Ismail hoped that the college would consider making minor adjustments or additions to the programmes in such a way that the modules would have some relevance to the context of Brunei.

He suggested that modules like Brunei Studies and a subject on the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) of Brunei be included.

The deputy minister noted the accreditation of the new programmes by the BDNAC and reminded IGS college to abide by all the quality assurance requirements as stipulated by the BDNAC.

Dato Hj Yusoff then further anticipated the partnership between IGS college and LUCT to be strengthened and sustained towards promoting quality education.

The link between IGS College and LUCT reflected the existing friendly relations between Brunei and Malaysia, he said.

Also present at yesterday's event was Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Dato' Abdullah Sani Omar.
